Quick! Ain't love just like a kick in the head?
This song was first recorded on May 10, 1960 by Dean Martin with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. Martin performed it with Red Novo in the film "Oceans 11". It has been covered by Robbie Williams and many others. It featured on a host of film sound tracks incl Oceans 13, Goodfellows, A Bronx Tale (sic). It was used to advertise Budweiser Beer and in 2008 was the musical backing of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in NY City. In 2011 it was used in the movie " Mission Impossible - The Ghost Show!"
Playing Notes:
This song is constructed with many simple vamps of chords having exactly the same shapes. There are many opportunities to add or change them to suit your personal tastes. The most difficult problems for me involve getting the rhythm right - I try to play each word in the lyric. But Jazz has a free rhythm yet it is quite tight too! The reason why many Jazz musos use drugs and boose is to 'free' themselves up to allow a more adventurous exploration of their minds and rhythmic styles. African people seem to have an in-born Jazz rhythm. And after-all, Jazz was born by the black slaves who had little else to do but sing and dance their way back home from those seeringly hot cotton fields beside the Mississippi in 19th century US
